The First Regatta Of The New Year 2010 is a VERY SPECIAL Regatta at a very special location that only happens once a year!

We're Going To Jimbo's For My...
"Wrecking Your Resolutions" Party!!!

Temptation Lagoon at Jimbo's across from Fisher Island and Miami's inlet. - This is truly one of Florida's last secret lost treasures. It's the last frontier. When you go here, you will be taking a step back in time as there is more history here than in most history books. An "unofficial" fish camp on county land belonging to the Parks & Recreations department, Jimbo has leased this property since 1960 for $1 a year, and from the looks of things, he hasn't put even one of those dollars into any improvements as it's remained totally unchanged since that time. It's somewhat of a "squatter's camp" with old hippies living there keeping an eye on things and the characters are as colorful and interesting as the place itself. Live rock bands sometimes just show up on the weekends and play for free and just for the fun of it so you never know who is going to be there because nobody knows.... it's just a matter of what band decides to play that weekend. Shrimp and smoked fish is the only thing on the menu, served cold and out of a cardboard box handed to you in a plastic bag is totally delicious and a "must try" thing to do. If you wear an old Grateful Dead concert t-shirt you'll blend right in!

This is such a cool place that many movies like Miami Vice, Bad Boys, Pet Detective, Flipper and lots of others have all been filmed here, including the old cult horror classic, "Creature From The Dark Lagoon". And every major magazine publication like Playboy, Penthouse, Hustler, Vogue, South Beach, Fashion and tons and tons of others have all conducted photo shoots here. And several rock stars have shot their MTV music videos at this location too. So don't be surprised if you see a high fashion or nude photo shoot happening when you arrive! This place is AWSOME!!!

Since all our springtime and summer time regattas are sooooo big with tons of boats rafting up with us, they are simply much too big to go to this wonderful little location.

One of the beautiful things about this location is that it's totally protected on all sides from winds by mangroves, so no matter what the temperature is, it will be hot on our boats at this raft up.

And since the water is so warm here, there are usually matanees and dolfins that come to visit our boats when we anchor here. Remember... this was the location for shooting the Flipper TV show!

And maybe best of all, Jimbo's is accessable by car too! So everyone without a boat can easily come join us. Just register here that you're coming, and make plans with a boat to host you and we'll pick you up from the docks only 50 yards away from our raft up!

And everyone coming by car, Virginia Key has a toll booth with a $5 toll charge. If you tell them you're going to Jimbo's, they may not charge you. But if they do, then keep your receipt and get it validated at Jimbo's and you can get a full refund when you exit! So this gives you FREE entrance and FREE parking at Jimbo's so you can enjoy this quaint, funky, historic little fish camp AND come to the world famous Bella Vita Boat Club's clothing-optional dance party at our boat regatta raft-up party!

For The Very First Regatta Of The Year 2010, We'll Be At Jimbo's!

Here is a map to where we'll be from Friday afternoon, through Sunday afternoon! (to enlarge the map for greater detail, click near the top of each map)



As you've read in Barbie's posting at the top of this page, Jimbo's is a super cool place and we're excited to share it with all our Bella Vita friends.

As you can see, it is located right across from the marina at Fisher Island right by Government Cut, the inlet that all the big cruise ships in Miami use.



A Word Of Caution:
It can be a little tricky getting into Jimbo's since there are shallow areas that lead to the entrance of the canal that leads to the lagoon at Jimbo's. But don't worry, if you follow the yellow line on the map above, it will guide you safely into the lagoon where we will be rafted. Our 40' boat draws 3 feet and we have no trouble getting into the lagoon at low tide. But if you draw lots more water then you can time your arrival and departure with the high tides. And if you're a big boat and want a little more assistance, you can radio us on channel #72 asking for the Barbie Party, and we will zip out to your boat in our dinghy with a sonar depth gauge on it, and we will be your personal pilot boat, guiding you safely to the party with you following us closely behind. (how's THAT for service!).

Jimbo's 305-361-7026 Duck Lake Road, Virginia Key, Florida
Take the Rickenbacker Causway to Virginia Key. Take the first left after the light at Mast Academy, then follow the road northeast, staying to the right at the first fork in the road. When you come to the end of the road, stay to the left. You will see the water treatment plant -- then turn to the right (north) and look for the driveway just ahead on the right.



This is REALLY going to be a GREAT party, so we hope everyone can make it.

At the Spring time and Summer time parties, they are much too big with far too many boats to be able to go to special cozy locations like this. And with the surrounding marshes, there are mosquitos in the Summer time, so the only time we can go there is in the Winter months when we expect to have about a dozen boats and zero mosquitos. So you don't want to miss this once a year opportunity.

We are going to do our best to get to Jimbo's to help celebrate Cindy's birthday. After last weekend it is going to take all month to recover but we should be ready to go by January. Cindy!!! With Dave & Cindy, and Captain Russ, and Zinfull and Fleshmates ALL celebrating their birthdays this same weekend!?!?!! This party will be off the chain for sure!

Don't forget the theme for this party is "Wrecking The Resolutions" so whatever your New Years Resolution is, this one weekend is your weekend when all is forgiven, all bets are off, and you can drink as much as you want, eat as much as you want, dance as much as you want... and yes... have as much non-stop sex all weekend long, as much as you want.

Super Important Notice:

Barbie and I have been flooded with email about the recent headline news about the fire at Jimbo's, the location for the January raft-up regatta. http://www.miamiherald.com/news/southflorida/story/1401338.html?asset_id=Jimbo's%20survives%20despite%20setbacks&asset_type=html_module

We've been keeping a close eye on this, as we were down in the Keys on our boat for the holidays. So on our way home we decided to visit Jimbos and see for ourselves what the situation was. We got here this morning and tonight we'll be joined by Forever Sunday, and we'll all spend the night here.

So We're happy to report that as the newspaper article above reported that a trailer did burn down, and FPL did shut off their electric, as you can see by the photos below taken just an hour ago, everything is as "normal" as it usually is at Jimbo's.

They are still selling smoked fish & shrimp, and ice cold beer, running generators, the same as all of us do on our boats when we need electricity.

Here we're standing in front of a cool stream that runs through the mangroves.



Below is our "Barbie Girl" boat where we'll all be rafted together next weekend!

PLEASE NOTE!
The winds right now are 15-20 mph, BUT in this super protected place, surrounded by mangroves on all 4 sides, you can see the water is very calm with no wind at all. And even though the temperatures are in the low 60's today, when you're in the sun, out of the wind on the back of our boats, it's very warm and Barbie was still laying out naked in the sun today!



And this is the ricketty old dock that those arriving by car will get picked up from for a ride out to the party. As you can see by our boat in the back ground... it's only about 50 yards from the dock to our party. And with this location, we'll have all the privacy we want for all the naked party fun you've come to expect from Barbie's parties!


Jimbo's is just as run-down and "charming" as it's always been... HOWEVER... The city has been trying to shut it down for years, and with this recent fire, and shutting off their electric, some say that it's very doubtfull that they will ever get their electric turned back on since they will never be able to be "up to code" on all their building inspections. So we are sad to say, that we're afraid that this might be the "beginning of the end" for Jimbo's....


So this might very well be one of the last times you'll ever get to see the one and only, "Jimbo's" in all its glory. This historic place is the last frontier for Harley bikers, and is one of Miami's best kept secrets. (and referred to by the city of Miami as, "Miami's biggest eye-sore", LOL) with tons of wild cats, and a handful of friendly stray dogs running around, mixing with the biker chicks and Grateful Dead rejects, and hippie droppouts... it's just the coolest place ever! (and Yes that is a rooster on the roof below, lol)

And with all of that said above... it is still the absolute most beautiful, blue water lagoon, sheltered on all four sides by mangroves protecting our boat from any kind of weather in store for us on the weekend of January 8th, 9th & 10th.
